Reiki: a world of energy
The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relief pain is as old as instinct. The living body, human or animal, radiates warmth and energy. This energy is the Universal life force itself animating all living things. This energy is called Ki in Japan and this is where Reiki name derives. This energy is strongly felt on the seven main energy centres running the length of your body from the crown of your head to the base of your spine called chakras, but it runs all along the body minor chakras and paths of energy called meridians. Reiki works by promoting the body's own natural healing process. It works on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. The energy is usually channeled from the therapist to the client when the practitioners hands are placed on or near the person being treated. This will help Ki to circulate smoothly throughout your body, breaking down any blockages and bringing things into balance on all these levels. Reiki will only go where it is most needed. It will only work for the person's highest good. Therefore it is totally safe. THE REIKI PRINCIPLES Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings. Just for today I will stop worrying. Just for today I will be peaceful. Just for today I will do my work honestly. Just for today I will be kind to my neighbour and every living thing. |
